The Universitat Jaume I Foundation \u2013 Company (FUE-UJI<\/a>), through its European and International Projects Office (EuroFUE-UJI<\/a>), with the collaboration of Caixalmassora, has brought together its Trustees this Wednesday November 18th<\/strong> in the second session of the Europe 2027 Working Breakfasts.<\/p>\n

The day dealt with the new European call\u00a0Green Deal\u00a0<\/em>by the hand of\u00a0<\/em>invited experts such as Lydia Gonzalez<\/strong>, area head of the Department of International Technological Cooperation Programs of the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI<\/strong>) and Spanish representative in the H2020 Committee \u2013 \u00abClimate, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials\u00bb and Juan Viesca<\/strong>, Director of European Funds at the European Foundation for Innovation (FINNOVA<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

The session has opened, Eva Alcon<\/strong>, rector of the Jaume I University<\/strong> and president of the FUE-UJI, who has stressed that the European Green Deal represents "an unprecedented mobilization of resources with which Europe signals that competitiveness and the environment go hand in hand" and, at the same time, has pointed out that "an extraordinary challenge like the one represented by the green transition has to have an equally extraordinary response, and that response can only be collective." In this sense, he has pointed out that \u201cpublic policies that stimulate the green transition are needed; an R&D&i system with sufficient resources to offer innovative solutions; ability to generate talent to pilot the transformation; a business fabric committed to an entrepreneurial culture and with the capacity for innovation and a civil society that feels like a protagonist in this transition. Alc\u00f3n pointed out that "the conference organized by the FUE-UJI to publicize in greater detail the strategic axes of the European Green Deal is an example of our willingness to contribute to this green and fair transition."<\/p>\n

The person in charge of presenting the call in a few short lines\u00a0Green Deal<\/em> to the attendees it has been, Carlos Cabrera<\/strong>, executive president of the Universitat Jaume I-Empresa Foundation (FUE-UJI). "Given the urgency of the challenges it addresses, its objective is to achieve clear and perceptible results in the short and medium term, but with a perspective of long-term change," Cabrera indicated about this recently published European call that ends on December 26. January. On this occasion, the day also included the participation of the Interuniversity Chair of New Green Transition<\/strong>, presented by its director, Eva Camacho<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The European call\u00a0Green Deal<\/em>, within the framework of the Horizon 2020 program, is an EU response to the climate challenge, which is dedicated to the European Green Deal (EU Green Deal<\/em>). It aims to mobilize research and innovation to respond to the climate crisis and help protect European ecosystems and biodiversity. With an approximate budget of 1 billion euros<\/strong>, this green deal will transform the EU economy into a fully sustainable one, initiate a transition towards a clean and circular economy, reduce pollution and emissions, and protect biodiversity.<\/p>\n

Lydia Gonz\u00e1lez, area head of the Department of International Technological Cooperation Programs of the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) and Spanish representative in the H2020 Committee \u2013 \u201cClimate, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials\u201d, has been one of the experts invited on this occasion. In his speech he highlighted: \u00abGreen Deal<\/em>\u00a0"It arises from the urgency of taking action against climate change, we want to achieve relatively quick, tangible and applicable results." For his part, Juan Viesca, director of European Funds at the European Foundation for Innovation (FINNOVA), has emphasized that "the Green Deal is really a long-term plan that will articulate more actions in this regard."<\/p>\n

This is, therefore, a call whose measures respond to the concern of the European Union (EU) and its citizens due to the negative effects of climate change. In this call for\u00a0Green Deal<\/em>, the EU has invested 1,000 million euros and will continue to prioritize this matter in the coming years to achieve the set objective of reduce emissions<\/strong> in a 50% by the year 2030. Gloria Serra<\/strong>, manager of the FUE-UJI, led the colloquium in which the attendees raised their doubts with the speakers.<\/p>\n

The rector of the UJI, Eva Alcon<\/strong>, has closed this second day of the Europe 2027 Work Breakfast cycle, which, under the supervision of Nela Gomez<\/strong>, director of the EuroFUE-UJI, will continue with the program on December 16 EIC Accelerator<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
