What is an affiliated entity in Horizon Europe?

FUE-UJI participates as an affiliated entity of Universitat Jaume I (UJI).

What does “affiliated entity” mean?

In Horizon Europe, an affiliated entity is an organisation with a legal or capital link to a beneficiary that takes part in implementing the project. This link must extend beyond the project: collaborating on a proposal alone is not sufficient.

An affiliated entity carries out tasks set out in the grant agreement and may receive funding if it meets the applicable requirements. It does not sign the agreement as a beneficiary; the beneficiary it is linked to is responsible for its participation.

FUE-UJI working alongside UJI

FUE-UJI participates as an affiliated entity of Universitat Jaume I. We contribute communication and dissemination, proposal preparation, and European project management and monitoring support.

Our experience includes DYNAMO, e-DIPLOMA and ETHNA System. For new proposals, participation as an affiliated entity is arranged alongside UJI and in accordance with the call conditions.

Horizon Europe affiliated entity FAQs

Affiliated entity vs associated partner: what is the difference?

An affiliated entity must have a legal or capital link to a beneficiary and may receive funding if it meets the requirements. An associated partner carries out project tasks but receives no EU funding for that participation and does not need this link.

Can an affiliated entity receive Horizon Europe funding?

Yes, if it meets the eligibility and funding conditions of the call and grant agreement. Its tasks and budget must be included in the proposal and reflected in the agreement. Being linked to a beneficiary does not automatically make it eligible for funding.

How do you include an affiliated entity in a proposal?

Identify it under the relevant beneficiary using its own PIC, and describe its contribution, tasks and budget. The consortium should check eligibility and the link before submitting the proposal; simply mentioning the organisation as a collaborator is not sufficient.

Does an affiliated entity count towards the minimum consortium size?

No. Affiliated entities do not count towards the minimum number of beneficiaries required for consortium eligibility. The consortium must meet this requirement with eligible beneficiaries and check the specific call conditions.
