AGNESS, a proposal for a European H2020 project, was presented this January as the first project within the management commission from the Universitat Jaume I to the FUE-UJI for the promotion, development and technical assistance in international projects. This proposal was submitted in the CE-RUR-10-2019 call.
The objective of AGNESS is to facilitate the creation of sustainable, circular and innovative companies in the citrus agri-food system, one of the most important fresh fruit crops in the agri-food sector of the European Union and the most important in the world.
The proposal has focused on Spain, Italy and Greece, as these countries represent 94% of EU citrus production, and have therefore suffered the greatest losses in the production area. AGNESS aims to be a driving force to reverse the adverse situation by developing a Biobased Circular Ecosystem for Rural Development.
Maria Jesús Muñoz, professor at the Universitat Jaume I, and her research group SoGReS (Research Group on Organizational Sustainability and CSR Management-Financial Markets) have led the proposal, made up of 29 partners from different European countries. Among them, cooperatives, public administrations, universities, companies and foundations.
EuroFUE-UJI has collaborated in the presentation of this initiative by providing support in the creation of the consortium, the drafting of the proposal and in dissemination and lobbying actions.
