The European Urban Initiative is a new EU program that will seek to offer more coherent support to cities by bringing together different urban initiatives and support tools and improving the link with the main activities of the Cohesion Policy. This program will include those already known with Urban Innovative Actions (UIA), but will also provide support to cities of all sizes and will support the EU Urban Agenda.
The initiative will include capacity building, the development of innovative, transferable and scalable solutions and, finally, the design and implementation of policies, urban mainstreaming and facilitating access to knowledge.
The aim is to strengthen integrated and participatory approaches to sustainable urban development and provide a stronger link with EU policies and, in particular, investments in cohesion policy.
