Interview with Javier Sánchez García

In the FUE newsletter published in January 2018, Eurofue interviewed Javier Sánchez García, a regular contributor to the office.

Javier is a professor of Marketing and Market Research at the Universitat Jaume I and a member of the Institute for Research in Social Welfare Policies (POLIBIENESTAR).

How important is the participation of companies and institutions in European projects for you?

Currently, funding from Europe is the only way for companies and universities to carry out quality research. This is mainly due to the fact that the funds available are much higher than in Spain. It is also important to highlight that the research proposals put forward make all researchers focus their efforts on issues that are relevant to the economic and social development of Europe as a whole.

What factors do you think influence the success of a European project and what value do you think Eurofue brings to the achievement and execution of such projects?

It is necessary to have support to know the proposals and develop them. In this sense, Eurofue, coordinated with the UJI, is of great help in these functions. In addition, Eurofue also helps with the networking of the people who form this service offered by the FUE. Secondly, it is necessary for researchers to share our ideas with organizations such as Eurofue so that they can channel them towards the most appropriate projects. In short, it is necessary for UJI, Eurofue and researchers to work together.

What does your collaboration with Eurofue entail?

As part of the marketing department, I have the tools and knowledge necessary for an in-depth analysis of the markets under study in each of the proposed research projects. It is essential that this type of analysis be supported by objective data that allow us to see the relevance and impact of the proposed project. In this sense, I am perfectly coordinated with the Eurofue staff to quickly and accurately support any proposed project.
