The EIC Accelerator program for SMEs is the protagonist of the Europe 2027 Work Breakfasts

The FUE-UJI, through its European and International Projects Office (EuroFUE-UJI), presented to its Trustees this Wednesday, December 16, the European program EIC Accelerator, within the framework of the Europe 2027 Work Breakfasts, with the collaboration of Caixalmassora.

For this event the FUE-UJI has had the intervention of Jose Vilar, head of the European Projects Service-Area of European Programs and Services and Innovation Dissemination of the IVACE and Jose Luis Perez, director of R&D&i at Torrescamara.

The Breakfast has been inaugurated by Modesto Fabra, vice-rector of Planning, Coordination and Communication of the UJI, who highlighted: “Betting on technology and technological development will benefit companies that can take advantage of it.” After the inauguration, Carlos Cabrera, executive president of the Universitat Jaume I-Empresa Foundation (FUE-UJI), has contextualized by placing the EIC Accelerator program in the environment of the different European financing instruments: “The European Union offers financial support to small and medium-sized companies, both directly, as well as through programs managed by each Member State”, indicating that the European EIC Accelerator program, previously called the SME Instrument, becomes one of these essential financing tools.

The program EIC Accelerator aims to support innovative, high-risk, high-potential small and medium-sized businesses that wish to develop and commercialize new products, services and business models. José Vilar, head of the European Projects Service - Area of European Programs and Services and Innovation Dissemination of the IVACE, highlighted this in his speech. “This is a brave instrument of the European Union to support companies that generate employment and European growth.”

Next, José Luis Pérez, Director of R&D&i at Torrescamara, presented the Digitalia 2 project as a success story, financed within the framework of the predecessor program to EIC Accelerator, SME Instrument. Pérez highlighted: “It is important that the project is aligned with the lines of demands of the European Union and global ones.”

Gloria Serra, manager of the FUE-UJI, moderated the colloquium in which the attendees raised their doubts to the speakers. The ultimate purpose of the European program EIC Accelerator is to give SMEs the opportunity to bring innovative products to the market that can boost economic growth and shape new markets or disrupt existing ones in Europe and around the world.

Modesto Fabra, deputy vice-rector for Planning, Coordination and Communication of the UJI, closed the day. The next event in the Europe 2027 Business Breakfast cycle will be next January 20, to present the next European research and innovation framework program Horizon Europe 2021-2027.
