The RESTAT project is within the European Erasmus + call
REST, REcongnizing Skills to Transform Accessible Tourism (Recognize skills to transform tourism into accessible), is a project where EuroFUE-UJI participates as a partner. It is part of the Erasmus + call, a European Union program that extends until 2020 and is committed to education, training, youth and sports. However, it is not only aimed at students.
The RESTAT project seeks to promote accessible tourism for people with functional diversity and special needs. As well as, rural tourism and committed to the environment.
In Europe, 5% of the population has a disability certificate. However, data provided by Inmaculada Placencia, deputy head of the Disability Rights Unit of the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Mobility Work of the European Commission, indicates that 25% of Europeans consider who have reduced capabilities when it comes to carrying out various tasks.
Aleix Marcoval is a 20-year-old young man, born in the town of La Sénia (Tarragona). Aleix is blind from birth, however, this does not represent any impediment for him when traveling. Marcoval affirms that there is a long way to go to achieve tourism adapted to the needs of this large part of society.
