InterCat staff training in circular and accessible tourism takes place in Portugal

The Erasmus+ project InterCat on circular and accessible tourism has met in Ponte de Lima, Portugal, from October 25 to 29 to carry out the training activity “Training Course for Staff and Trainers”. During these five days of training, a total of 25 people have been trained in the most used concepts and good practices on circular tourism and accessibility in the tourism sector.

All partner entities have had the opportunity to train and present their work on the concepts and good practices of accessible and circular tourism. New Horizons (Italy), Previform (Portugal), Fundación Universitat Jaume I-Empresa (Spain), Ergasia (Greece) and Ecological Future Education (Latvia) have been in charge of presenting their progress in both topics to the rest of the partners and participants in the formation. The presentations have included examples of good practices and some interactive exercises in order to emphasize with the target groups involved in sustainable and accessible tourism and other evaluation activities to check how an individual action can impact the environment and how to contribute within the tourism sector.

In addition, the training has included study visits to learn first-hand about some initiatives on accessible and circular tourism. The participants visited the sustainable hotel and sports complex Feel Viana, located in Viana do Castelo (Portugal). After this visit, the participants moved to the city of Penafiel, where they have participated in a tour of this city's latest improvements in accessibility.

After this first training activity, the project will continue working on the results that are developed during its execution: Glossary of TAO Training Elements for VET: Key concepts and work tools of Circular and Accessible Tourism for VET training, Visit of study in Spain and Destination Image Analysis Tool – DIATool: online and innovative tool that will function as an Observation Template on Circular and Accessible Tourism for VET training.
